Experience the warmth of true community –
God’s love changes us, as we love like Jesus
Grace and peace, WFMC.
As we gather in our sanctuary Sunday for the first time in four weeks, I want to personally invite you to join us and together sing, pray, read Scripture, commune and hear some encouraging words.
This Sunday, we will learn together some powerful truths. Some seasons of life feel like you’re standing against a fierce and unrelenting wind. Every headline today seems darker. Every conversation feels heavier. The pressure against believers continues to grow, and the hostility toward truth seems to increase day by day. And while many believers feel pushed to the margins, God is calling us not to retreat in fear, but to live with courage, conviction, and compassion. The book of Daniel reminds us that ‘there is a God in heaven.” Because of that “Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself…” Years ago, I heard a little phrase that has helped me more than once to remain committed to God when faced with difficult times “Other may, I cannot!” You must decide for yourself if your priority is God.
I say this often, but it’s always true: Sunday is my favorite day of the week. I hope you will come and be a part of what God is doing among us.
See you Sunday, friends!

“O sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done wonderful things.”
Psalms 98:1
When I was in seminary, we lived in a little apartment that was close to the local high school.
While I studied, I could sometimes hear the marching band as it practiced. If the wind was blowing in one direction, I could hear the whole band. But if the wind was blowing in the opposite direction, all I could hear was the bass drum…boom, boom, boom…even though I knew all the instruments were playing.
A lot of people were brought up to hear only one word about the character of God: judgment, judgment. But when they began to learn more about God, they were able to hear the “melody of love” that is so beautiful – and they learned to praise God for His grace, His mercy, and His unending, sacrificial and unfathomable love for us.

Through our service to one another, we grow in community and strengthen the place where we call home.
We strive to be changed by God so that we love like Jesus.
In order to preserve the ministry values and integrity of Washington First Methodist Church’s mission, we put importance on the scripture in what we believe and how we acknowledge God’s Word in everything we do.
